MEET THE OWNERS

Jaida Bates and Shelby Jacobs are the heart behind Elevate 228, and they couldn’t be more excited to bring their passion for barre to Ocean Springs!

Jaida, originally from Tupelo, MS, found her love for barre while attending Mississippi State University and began her journey at Pure Barre Starkville. Since then, she’s spent the last 8 years teaching and taking barre. In 2022, she and her husband Jackson moved to Ocean Springs with their pup Piper, and they’ve loved calling Ocean Springs home ever since. When she’s not in the studio, she’s running her marketing agency, B Social, spending time outdoors, or with friends.

Shelby has been practicing barre for four years and fell in love with it from the very first class. She’s always loved moving her body, and barre quickly became her favorite way to feel strong, physically and mentally. Originally from Collierville, TN, she attended Mississippi State University, where she met her husband, Ryeley. They have a black lab named Sage and love going out on the boat with friends and taking Sage on beach walks!

Together, Jaida and Shelby are creating a space where women can feel empowered, supported, and confident.
